After 27 years as a civil rights litigator, Jean transitioned to the role of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Senior Staff Mediator. She served in this capacity for 10 years, during which time she conducted over 750 mediation sessions. As a litigator in private practice and with the EEOC, Jean specialized in handling individual and class cases covering a broad range of civil and civil rights issues, both constitutional and statutory, at all levels of the federal judiciary, including a successful appeal to the United States Supreme Court.

Jean’s advocacy experience is foundational to her success as an effective alternative dispute resolution practitioner. Mediation requires nuanced attention to a situational landscape and apparent power structures; listening and responding on a personal and professional level; ensuring that all participants in the process have a voice; and maintaining an atmosphere of respect in a highly charged environment, while ensuring that underlying legal parameters are not ignored.
